Know the test

The SAT is digital and adaptive now.

It's taken in the Bluebook app, it's shorter than the paper test, and your performance on the first module decides how hard the second one is. Prep has to account for that.

How it works

A plan built from your own practice test.

  1. Diagnostic test

You take a full-length, adaptive practice SAT in Bluebook under real timing, so we see how you perform on the test as it actually works.

  2. Skill-by-skill breakdown

We go through every missed question and sort the misses by skill and by cause: content you haven't learned, careless errors, or running out of time.

  3. Weekly sessions

Each session targets the skills worth the most points for you, with short homework sets between sessions. Math students learn to use Desmos to check and shortcut problems.

  4. Full-length checkpoints

A new practice test every few weeks shows what's working. We adjust the plan based on the results.

  5. Test-day plan

Pacing targets for each module, a review of the testing rules, and a checklist for the night before and the morning of.

Questions

Common questions

When should my student start preparing?

Most students do best starting 8–12 weeks before their test date. That leaves time for a diagnostic, steady weekly work, and two or three checkpoint tests. If the goal is a large score increase, start earlier.

How many times should you take the SAT?

Many students take it two or three times. Most colleges let you choose which scores to send, and many "superscore," combining your best section scores across test dates.

Do you tutor online or in person?

Both. Online sessions use a shared whiteboard and screen sharing, so we can work through Bluebook practice questions together.

Do you cover the Desmos calculator?

Yes. Desmos is built into the digital SAT for the entire Math section, and knowing when to graph instead of solving by hand saves real time. We practice it in every math session.

What if we need to reschedule?

Reschedule any session with at least 24 hours' notice at no charge.
